Repeat Prescriptions

We no longer take repeat prescription orders by telephone. All patient prescription requests should be made using the options listed below.

If you have not already done so please order your prescription by registering with Patient UK

Patients will be able to order repeat medications online via Patient Access. To register for this service you must bring photo ID to the main desk of the surgery. Please note that due to patient confidentiality, log in details will only be given to patients that are present.

Your doctor may give you a computerised repeat prescription slip, which enables you to obtain repeat medication for a specified period without the need for a consultation. To obtain repeat prescriptions you may:-

  • Return the request slip to the surgery marking the items you require, allowing at least 48 hours (excluding weekends and bank holidays)before you need the medication
  • Post the request slip to the surgery marking the items you require (please enclose a stamped, self addressed envelope if you wish your prescription to be returned to you by post).
  • Fax us your request on 01928 734527 (together with your current contact telephone or fax number).

Requests sent after 5pm will be processed from midday the following working day and will be ready for collection 48 hours after processing (excluding weekends and bank holidays).

The production of prescriptions, checking and signing by your GP does take time; this is why we have the 48 hour rule. Our intention is always to have your prescription or medication ready within 48 hours. This is based on Monday to Friday and exclusive of weekends.

Thank you for your continued co-operation.

Prescription Fees

Help with NHS costs

In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:

  • those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
  • those who are age exempt
  • those with certain medical conditions
  • More information is available at NHS Choices

NHS Charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

As from the 1st April 2021 prescription charges will rise to:

1 Item £9.35

2 Items £18.70

3 Items £28.05

4 Items £37.40

5 Items £46.75

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

Pre-payment certificates will remain at the same price:

3 months = £30.25

12 months = £108.10
