Surgeries are NOT held on Saturday mornings.
There is also a branch surgery at Kingsley - see the Kingsley Branch page for details.
Please note that appointments must be booked in advance. Our aim is to provide an appointment the same day for urgent cases. Please contact reception as usual for all appointments.
You may consult any of the doctors in the Practice. Urgent cases, especially involving children are always seen on the same day; otherwise you will be offered the first available time. When making an appointment you should be able to see a Health Professional within 24 hours; that is either a doctor or a nurse, and you should be able to see a doctor within 48 hours. This does not include weekends and Bank Holidays. If you wish to see a specific doctor or nurse you should tell the receptionist when booking the appointment. To see a specific doctor could take longer. The telephone is often very busy, particularly on Monday morning, so please be patient if your call is not answered immediately. You may be asked to hold if we are very busy we will pick up your call again as soon as possible. Appointments are not available at the practice on Saturday, Sunday or Bank Holidays. Please try to arrange non-urgent appointments in good time. The Practice keeps a certain number of appointments each day for emergencies. These are intended for people with acute illness who cannot wait for a routine appointment. If you are given one of these appointments please attend promptly at the time given. Although our aim is that patients should wait no longer than 30 minutes from their appointment time, it is possible that at times you may have to wait a little longer than usual. If this does happen please try to be patient.
On occaison a home visit may be required. Home Visits are for patients who are not able to come to the surgery, lack of transport etc is not a reason to request a Home Visit. If you feel you require a home visit please ring in to Reception before 10a.m. The doctor may call you to discuss the requirement and any alternatives. Remember a GP can generally see 6 patients in surgery in the time taken up by a single home visit.
In an 'emergency' (please remember general practice is not an 'emergency service') However you may have the need to be seen on the day you perceive your illness requires a GP appointment. We make duty doctor appointments available every day. Generally these are in the morning and you will be asked to come to the surgery as soon as possible. Alternatives are available:
The local pharmacy may be able to assist you with minor problems.
Our nurse practitioner is able to diagnose and treat illness, reception staff will ask for your 'problem' to make a judgement if it is appropriate to see the nurse practitioner.
The Extended hours service is available see the note on the right hand side.
Whilst all patients have a right to medical treatment at the Practice, when making an appointment you have a responsibility to keep the appointment and to attend on time. Patients are also urged to telephone the Practice on 01928 733249 to cancel the appointment if they are unable to attend or no longer need to see a doctor or a nurse.
